A young art student accidentally discovers that there is a secret committee consisting of four women and twelve men in the attic of the National Museum. They decide what constitutes good art and which artists will be successful. The committee consists of museum directors, art school principals, a media personality, a famous artist, art critics, and a gallery owner. But when another male professor of photography is appointed to the art school, the students protest against the "boys' club" and complain that there are too few female teachers. The media naturally jumps on the bandwagon, and it quickly becomes a public debate. When student Ylva Zetterqvist is about to present her final exhibition, she locks her teachers in a room and pours gasoline on the walls. She wants to know why they have not chosen her to be recognized.
