The CTA Tools A430 Double-D Shock Stem Socket is a specialty holding tool designed to secure shock piston stems while removing or installing the retaining nut during suspension service. It is primarily designed for GM X-body and J-body applications, where a Double-D stem profile must be held in place while a deep socket is used to service the top nut. This socket features a precision Double-D internal profile measuring 7.5mm x 5.5mm, with internal dimensions of 0.33" (8mm) long x 0.25" (6mm) wide x 0.30" (7.75mm) deep for proper engagement. The compact design includes a 3/8" square drive, 31.75mm overall length, 18.9mm width at the drive end, and 13.8mm width at the Double-D end, allowing access in tight suspension and engine bay areas. In addition to its primary GM applications, the A430 is also used in select aftermarket Ford service applications, including installing turbo studs on 2011–2020 Ford 3.5L EcoBoost F-150, 2015–2020 Expedition/Navigator, 2017–2020 Raptor, and installing exhaust manifold flange studs on 2015–2020 Ford 5.0L F-150.
